My name is Mychal Thomas Howe. I was born on December 14th 1985 in Portland Oregon. I grew up and currently live in Lake Oswego Oregon. I had a typical childhood; I grew up and became extremely close friends with an amazing group of 10 guys. Throughout my childhood I was always very active in sports, I played basketball, football, and lacrosse. I went to elementary school at Palisades Elementary. After finish elementary school I went on to middle school at Waluga Junior High, then on to Lakeridge High school.I quickly came to the realization that public high school was not the place for me. At the end of sophomore year I transferred to Portland Community College. While attending PCC, I immediately started receiving both high school and college credits for my courses. This allowed me to graduate nearly two years before my class. From the age of about 15 I started becoming extremely interested in the area of business, mainly real estate. I started reading all sorts of business books and attending business seminars to learn all I could about the subject. I started off by reading ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki, which inherently fueled my interested in the area of business even more. I continued reading more and more books including: Cashflow Quadrant, Think and Grow Rich, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, The ABC’s of Real Estate Investing, along with many others. To this day my enthusiasm and eagerness to learn all I can in the fields of business, investing, and real estate thrives.
Goals and Aspirations:
I am an extremely goal oriented person. I believe that we must all set goals and evaluate our progress often. I believe in sharing goals with others, that way networks of friends, family, and acquaintances can hold you accountable to those goals, that’s why I am excited to share a few of mine with you now.
A few of my major goals are:
– Establishing a network of investors to oversee and advise me on important investment decisions.
– Find a mentor. Be a mentor.
– Build new relationships and keep the old ones strong.
– Staying close with family members.
Family:
My mother Brenda and father Tom are divorced, fortunately they both live in or around the Lake Oswego area. I am extremely lucky to have had such a great upbringing; I believe I have received the best of both worlds. Many people say that one of my best qualities is that I am very empathetic and caring, that I learned from my mother. She taught me the importance and value of close family. Emotionally, she is always the one I go to, and through her I have overcome many things, which I never thought I could. The amount of love and support that I receive just knowing that she is always there for me is amazing.
And then there is my hero, my father, the smartest man I know. I have dealt with many tough lessons, none without the advice of my father. At this point in my life I am so focused, so dedicated, so driven and I owe it all to him. The trials that he has overcome and the wisdom that is handed down to me by him daily has gotten me to where I am today.
While most people consider divorce a tragedy, in my life it has been a true blessing. If it wasn’t for my parents being divorced I wouldn’t have Suzanne, my step mother, Josie and Sarah, my two step sisters, and Andy my step brother in my life. While formally they are known as my ‘step’ family, to me they have become no different than immediate family. The overwhelming success stories by all four individuals are truly miraculous. Each one of them has played a huge part in my life. They all help me grow in different ways and are always there to catch me when I fall.
I also feel that I must mention my mom’s side of the family whom I am extremely close with. My Grandfather and Grandmother Dick and Joyce, Aunts and Uncles, Steve, Chris, Ron, and Linda, and my Cousins Ryan, Ronda, Brandon, and Brian, they are my biggest supporters. Without the day-to-day help of close family members I wouldn’t be who I am today. I am extremely luck and thankful to call each and every one of these people family, and I owe everything to them.
World Travels:
As early as I can remember I have been lucky enough to travel the world. Not only have I been most everywhere in the United States, when I was 14 I biked with my father threw Kansas Colorado and Missouri. We have also biked from Oregon down to the Mexican Boarder, parts of Canada, and also around the country of Zimbabwe in Africa. I have traveled to many other countries such as: England, France, Italy, Ireland, China, and Japan.
However, one of my most memorable trips was just last summer when my dad and I flew into Houston Texas, rented a van, and drove threw Louisiana and Mississippi helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Most of our time was spent in a small shelter in Long Beach Mississippi, about 10 miles from Biloxi Mississippi, which was the eye of the storm.
Recently I also had the opportunity to travel around Spain and Vienna Austria. After that trip came the trip of a lifetime. My father and I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Katmandu Nepal, we then flew to Lukla, and hiked up to Mt. Everest Base Camp at about 19,000 ft. I have to say that this was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. We were also able to raise money for charity during our voyage up the mountain and raise a lot of money for the charity Comp 4 Kids.
Currently:
I have now graduated from Portland State University. I received a Batchelor in Business Marketing and Administration. I have continued to working for Controlcenter Inc, Legal Technology Group, and the Litigation Response Team part time. I am also continuing to peruse my studies for my real estate exam and hope to become a realtor in the coming months.
